很多科技人才寫英文履歷時,會用「翻譯出來的中文」,看起來很像學生報告或公司內部文件,而不是國際職場上的專業申請書。以下是最常見的5個錯誤:
1.Responsible for…
- Responsible for firmware testing and documentation.
- Responsible for managing project timeline.
這樣寫的問題:全履歷寫著你「負責」,卻看不到你「做到」什麼。這些句子像是在複製職位敘述,沒有表現出你價值。更專業的說法:
- Executed system-level firmware testing across 3 product lines, reducing bug count by 35%.
- Managed project timeline for a cross-functional team of 12, delivering ahead of schedule.
2.Teamwork/Communication/Hardworking
- Good communication skills.
- Strong sense of teamwork and responsibility.
這樣寫的問題:空泛的詞彙寫再多也不會加分。這些詞看似正面,但空洞、沒細節,HR早已看膩。更具體的說法:
- Presented weekly updates to stakeholders from engineering, design, and operations.
- Facilitated remote collaboration across 4 time zones during a 6-month product launch.
3.Familiar with/Know how to
- Familiar with Python and Git.
- Know how to use Tableau.
這樣寫的問題:錯把「知道」當「會用」。Familiar、know how to代表「看過、了解」,但不代表你真的能解決問題。更精準的說法:
- Proficient in Python and Git; developed automation tools for deployment and version control.
- Used Tableau to build real-time dashboards tracking KPIs for 3 product teams.
4.「Cost down project」不是英文
中式英文讓外國人看不懂!若寫「Led a cost down project for server production」,外國主管恐怕會皺眉,心想:What’s a cost down project?
正確英文會說「cost reduction」或「cost-saving measures」。
修正寫法:
- Led a cost-reduction initiative that cut server production cost by 12%.
- Identified vendor consolidation opportunities, saving $300K annually.
5.沒寫出時間、成效或數據
- Developed an internal tool for task management.
- Participated in the hardware design process.
這樣寫的問題:這些句子沒有成果、沒有變化,看不見「你做了什麼、造成什麼影響」,就像背景介紹。
改寫範例:
- Developed an internal task management tool that reduced daily planning time by 40%.
- Participated in circuit redesign that improved thermal performance by 15%.
你不是沒做事,而是沒「寫對」
好的英文履歷不是「翻譯好的中文」,而要用國際職場的語言,呈現出你能創造的價值。給科技人3個寫履歷的關鍵提醒:
- 用動詞開頭,寫成果時不要寫你「負責」什麼,而是「做到」什麼。
